Dated Kimberly Loughran. In a review of Clerks. (1994), one critic described his writing style as "David Mamet meets Howard Stern." Smith also suggested hiring Tim Burton as director. But Burton didn't like Smith's draft. So, Kevin left the project and Burton hired his own writer, Wesley Strick.
