I think it's important to say that first of all as an actor, like myself, starting out, you don't have much control. You don't have much choice. These roles certainly I didn't choose in terms of that these were never offered to me, but I was drawn to them. They presented certain complexity, a richness that you don't find a lot. I'm certainly not drawn to your typical hero or boy next door or anything else that we're overtly familiar with. I'm mainly drawn to other subsets - different characters that we're not apparently that close to. It's potent for me.

- Born in Saugus, California. He lived in Traverse City, Michigan in early childhood, and moved to Kansas with his mother after his parents' divorce. His mother contracted Lupus, and died from complications. After his mother's death, in the mid 70's, he went to live with his father and step-mother in Santa Barbara, California. They then moved to Rockford, Iowa in '85 or '86.
